Many BJP supporters and even right-wing leaned Facebook pages have started trolling Congress’ vice president Rahul Gandhi for reading a Kannada Newspaper during the launch of a commemorative edition of National Herald on June 12 in Bangalore. These people were sharing a fake information, just by looking at the Kannada words on the front page of the newspaper.
An online news website has also shared this as an article and garnered over 7,000 views on it. It’s been shared several hundred time on Facebook as well. Now, guess the number of shares on WhatsApp to make fun of him and spread the propaganda!
The paper he was holding (and reading) was an English newspaper. But the cover page of the newspaper had advertisement ‘ಕವಲುದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯದ 70 ವರ್ಷಗಳು’, and in the last page, there were information about National Herald’s birth and their works in Kannada language.
You may read this on the Kannada newspaper Prajavani’s online edition: ಕೊನೆಯ ಪುಟದಲ್ಲಿ ನ್ಯಾಷನಲ್ ಹೆರಾಲ್ಡ್ನ ಹುಟ್ಟು, ಬೆಳೆದುಬಂದ ಹಾದಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಕಾರ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿವರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
You can also check the newspaper for yourselves in this video:
If you have trolled him for reading a Kannada newspaper, at least you should have seen the title of the newspaper, which was written in English! It looks like Trolling is easier than finding facts for many of us.
